What is “dofollow”? What is “nofollow”?

“Nofollow” attribute was created in 2005 to help bloggers managing comments and control the number of inserted links. Simply say, it was created to stop spammers taking advantages by placing unwanted links on blog posts. “Nofollow” attribute is added automatically to your link, and it will be valueless since search engines won’t be following them to index. Thus, from SEO point of view “nofollow” links don’t have any value as they are not counted as valid links pointing back to your site.

“Dofollow” is the opposite of “nofollow”. What are the benefits of “dofollow” and what it can do for your business? The main benefit is that you get a link back to your site. And backlinks are very important for any website or a blog. They are considered by Google as votes that have been given for your site and will greatly increase traffic and ranking positions of your website. By submitting comments on “dofollow” blogs you get free and quality backlinks, all you have to do is to leave relevant comments. One of the easiest way to find “dofollow” blogs is by using “fast blog finder” tool. The tool is designed to search for quality blogs that accept comments. It also shows the Google PR for each domain and other useful options. You can download a free trial version on topshareware.com and decide whether it works for you.

There are lots of “dofollow” sites that you can use as a part of your online promotion program, but I have listed just a few of them for those who didn’t start yet the “social link building campaign”.

    It really annoys me how the default of no-follow means that most bloggers don’t know what a dofollow blog is - the one I’ve linked to here is :-)

    I guess I should go and check what my blogs have. Never really bothered with that cause never had an active blog - but had to start several recently, and did not check if they have nofollow by default.

    yep, there is a good one. Our blog is custom coded and we need a custom “dofollow” plugin. The plugin that we used before is making the whole blog down, I almost had a heart attack a couple of days ago… But no worries, the blog will be “dofollow”, I’ll update everyone as soon as we install the “dofollow”
